Airplane 1st Birthday Cupcakes

Here's another one from this weekend.  A little boys first birthday cupcakes in light blue and red, airplanes and stars.  Mom was flexible on design (my favorite kind of client!) so when I threw out the idea of rockets or planes, she jumped on the plane idea...because Dad is in the Airforce.  I love those little details that connect something as simple as cupcakes to real life.  <3

"Happy Birthday" stamped on a fondant banner behind the plane.

Red Velvet cupcake with Cream Cheese frosting.

Chocolate cupcakes with Vanilla Almond butter cream.

In other news, I was asked by the local Small Business Development Center if they could do a short success story in their newsletter on my business.  I was honored.  And then she asked for a picture of me in my business.  Deep breath.  After several pseudo photo shoots, some of which included a party of one (and those never turn out good with no one to smile at),  I finally decided on this one.

So there ya go.  That was 2/3 of my weekend.  One more post to come later this week, then we're off to California!  I'm excited to get to try Casey's Cupcakes at my friend's wedding next weekend.  She's been on Cupcake Wars.  This will give me something to aspire (or compare?) to.  :)

Princess Piggies Birthday Cupcakes

Well, I didn't mean to, but apparently I changed the blog design.  And then I had to change it again.  I'm sure it'll change more when I get more time.  For now, what do you think?

Here is one of this weekend's jobs; princess piggie cupcakes.

White almond cake, some filled with vanilla almond buttercream and some filled with raspberry buttercream, topped with fondant piggies and princess crowns and flowers.  I hear the birthday girl, turning 8, loved them!

Here are the fondant toppers before they made it on the cakes.  Anytime I do faces, I'm always amazed at how different they all look and how they each take on a personality, even though I really try to make them consistent.

Easter Birthday Cupcakes

I must admit, I don't like sharing my birthday with a holiday (and anniversary!  But only I am to blame for that...sigh...).  So when I received the order for these birthday-slash-Easter cupcakes, I really wanted to make them special.  Sparkly eggs and tulips, bunny ears peeking out of frosted grass, butterflies and a pretty birthday banner round out these vanilla and chocolate cupcakes baked in fancy flower cut out liners.  I hope this little girl had a fantastic BIRTHDAY!  (...and Easter)

 Peek-a-boo Bunny!

Graduation Cupcakes

Did you know I do cupcakes for graduations too???  True story.  If you have a graduate in your life and would like to treat them to something special, cupcakes are always good.  ;)

These pretties were for a tasting for a soon-to-be grad.

Coral, yellow, and lime green. Fun spring/summer colors for any celebration.

Yumm...Lemon cake with fresh raspberry frosting!
